9 month Dr Appt Update

flying with daddy

Jaxon and Daddy went to meet with our new pediatrician this week for his 9 month healthy baby check. Dr. Deborah and Jax seemed to take to each other quite well. He was poked and prodded routinely...with his measurements coming in at the 95th percentile across the board. He weighed in at 24lbs 10 oz and right at 28 inches. She seemed (from all reporting parties) to be very pleased with his size and developmental milestones. We were given the go-ahead to take him off of rice cereal in his bottles as well as off of the Prevacid. (fingers-crossed that the throwing up doesn't come back) Jax still needs to wait till his First Birthday (right around the corner-yikes!) for get tastes of honey, peanut butter, shell fish and whole milk--but aside from those things...its open season for his taste buds! Now if I could only get Justin to experiment with food along with Jax... ;)

Bye Bye Curls??

This has been a month of first for Jaxon. Last week was teeth and Christmas, this week---the First Hair cut! Yes...you all finally wore me down and I agreed to risk cutting of my buddy boy's curly locks. Thankfully we found a salon just for kids, with blocks and a train table in the waiting area. The stylist booths are equip with different vehicles, video monitors that play your choice of movie (Jax had Wonder Pets) and video games for the older crowd. Between the movie and the cool fire truck that he was sitting in, I don't think Jax even registered what was going on. (it could also be the fact that someone is constantly playing with his hair??) Anyhow, the event was much more traumatic for me than it was for him. But I will admit that it is nice not having soo much hair to deal with and the best part is...we still have curls! ;)

Merry Christmas to you!

And winning this years Bad Mom Move Award...me. Jaxon's first Christmas and I make off with out a camera, a video camera...nothing! Luckily we were surrounded by people who were just as excited to celebrate Mr. Jax' first Christmas. And true to 9month old form...he was really more interested in the box than the gift. Unless it was a gift for cousin Elijah, and then Jax spent a bit of energy trying to steal poor Elijah's present (especially the bike!) Even without my own photographic evidence, it was so much fun opening all of Jaxon's presents (we have one wonderfully spoiled buddy!) Thank you all for spending your Christmas with us!

3 puppies???

So being that Jaxon has 2 fur-siblings (Pike and Halli) and many fur-family (Peanut, Pepper, Rizzo, Kenickie, Nicholas, Walter, Turbo...) it goes with out saying that he is not only NOT afraid of dogs but is comfortable around them... Possibly too comfortable...he's....ummmm...begun to "pick up" some tips, shall we say, from the dogs...
This is his preferred method of transporting toys to and fro. He's figured out that if he carries them in his mouth, he still has two free hands allowing him to crawl much more quickly! The mouth carrying paired with the love of chewing/playing with the dogs toys has me very, very concerned about potty training! ;)

9 months???

traditional red chair pic
all done mom...
wha??? No no??

Has it already been 9 months? (give or take a few days...) My brain spins when I realize that I have a 9 month old...well it could be that thought or the fact that the kid just blew by me at mach 3 crawl speed! With just 2 months of crawling under his belt, our little (loosely used term) guy shows no signs of slowing down. Its just the opposite as a matter of fact, as he is realizing that everything...and I do mean EVERYTHING is now a part of his world! Jaxon's days are spent crawling from "no no" spot to "no no" spot in the house, with the doggie water bowl and satellite receiver tying for favorite. We have been working on teaching Jax the meaning of "no no...no touch" as a result of the previous statement. However, I'm pretty sure that all he has learned thus far is that "No no" means "move your booty quick cause mom's comin to get ya!!" Another favorite pastime is meals. No...he hasn't developed an appreciation for my fine cooking...the little turkey has figured out how much fun throwing (not dropping) food for the dogs can be! Funny enough, but I must say that the clapping when he's really thrilled about a good toss puts me in stitches. (even though I'm trying to make the grouchy face) Jax' 2 bottom teeth are both working their way out as we speak! He is standing and pulling up on everything. The talkative gene is still oh-so-present in our boy...he talks/screams all the day long.
I could go on and on about the buddy...he is just so much fun and makes us laugh to tears! We are so excited to get to share him with you all this week for the Holidays...and if we don't happen to see you...
Merry Christmas!

Visit with Santa

This year we learned that Firefighter's children have their very own Santa! Jaxon had his first Santa encounter at the FFD Union Christmas party this year.(how nice that he comes to us and we don't have to fight the mall crowd ala Christmas Story!) It is a great event were all of the guys and their families get together for food, drinks and of course Santa! Jaxon and I unloaded our Christmas list on Fire Santa...fingers crossed he delivers! ;)
