Camren Grace- I month old!!

Last Friday was the 12th and Camren's 1 month birthday! It's unbelievable that time can fly that fast! Camren continues to be a little peanut, weighing in at 8lbs 12oz at her 1 month appointment. (which was what her cousin Wyatt weighed on the same day but it was his second day of life! ) We are thankful for all of the newborn clothing that we had been given and honestly never thought I'd use! She is becoming more alert everyday but still spends most of her days sleeping. Cam is a true girl and does NOT enjoy any of the bodily functions that crack her brother up. Gas is very distressing to this girly girl and is really her only reason for crying. So it appears that we have been once again very blessed with this new girly addition to our family!

Who Needs Halloween??

So you may have noticed that I did not post any trick-or-treating pictures again this year. Last year Jax was way to little for the door to door candy begging...this year he should have been at the prime age for the maximum candy haul! The tricky part of trick-or-treating however is the costume. People don't look to kindly on children showing up at their doors NOT in costume and asking for candy. And this little "rule" is why Jax missed out again--no costume was worn. On Halloween day my stubborn little man could not have been less interested in putting on his costume and if I've learned one thing from my son (albeit slowly...) is that forcing him to do anything is rarely worth the effort! So we didn't force it and he didn't dress up!
But (as the title states) who needs Halloween when you have bath time? For the week after Halloween, every night Jax has chosen a different costume to wear. It cracks us up to watch him pick his attire and run to the mirror to check himself out! Maybe next year I'll finally get some trick-or-treating pictures but for now this makes me smile daily!

This is how a turtle crawls don'cha know.

Cousin Visits

Jax and Cam were lucky enough to get a Cousin Playdate over Halloween weekend. (ok so the boys did all of the playing for now...) My sis-in-law Becca and brother Ben's son Elijah is 2 1/2- 10 mo older than Jax and their daughter Lillian is 2 mo old- 6 weeks older than Camren. The boys (and dads) had a great time running around the house yelling and wrestling while the girlies slept through it all! By the end of the night everyone was ready for bed!! It was so much fun to get all 4 of them together for the first time. It makes me super excited for the holidays and years to come as they grow up together!

All done and snuggled up warm!

Camren had her first bath last week after her umbilical cord had fallen off. Daddy had Jax in the bath tub so it was some nice girl time for us. Luckily (and I never thought I would say this...) our bathroom is on the smallish side. This makes heating up the room to ensure a more pleasant bathing experience easy! With a warm room and warm water Camren was a very happy girl. Which was a nice change from her big Bro who hated his bath for the first few months. ;) What can I say?? I guess this princess loves to be pampered!

Camren's First Red Chair Picture-1 week old

I am really excited to be continuing the Red Chair picture tradition that we started with Jax! It's so neat to look back at Jax' pictures and compare the two. Let me tell you the biggest thing is the size! Our little girl is still so tiny. At her last appt she weighed 6lbs 5oz (remember: it's normal for babies to loose up to 10% of their body weight after birth before gaining) Camren Grace does have a little touch of jaundice (where the liver doesn't break down dead red blood cells effectively) but it isn't severe enough to warrant the use of phototherapy (the use of special lights to speed the break down and absorption of cells) We have her third Dr's appt tomorrow to do a re-check and be sure that we are in the clear.
Cam is a good natured baby. She is definitely a sleeper! I have to wake her to eat during the day. (Never had that problem with Jax!!) Everyday she is awake a little more and spends time checking out the world around her. Camren really has just slid into her spot in our family seamlessly!
I look forward to updating you all on both of my kiddos now!

My Kiddos

The first meeting of the siblings that Jax initiated!
Holding Miss Camren for the first time...doesn't he look huge compared to the tiny peanut?
Cute kids
YAY! I did it!!
This is the reaction we gave him and he copied. He now gets excited every time he holds her (he asks daily) or asks to put her in her swing...pretty much anytime he touches her! Funny guy.

Hey...Sister...what's going on?

Introducing...Miss Camren Grace!

All dressed up and ready to have a baby.

Last week proved to be much more exciting that we had anticipated. Justin and Jax had taken their first Daddy/Buddy road trip to the Bay Area, while I was at home relaxing (organizing) napping (lunch with friends) and getting some down time (or something close to it!) After a lunch with a friend and a trip to Labor and Delivery on Monday, my Mom came into town to provide moral support since my guys were still out of town. Tuesday started with a visit to my Dr. office and ended with an appt for a baby! Justin and Jax arrived home around noon and were greeted with my news of "we are having a baby today!" Luckily Jax' G-ma was still in town to spend time with the buddy because we had no other childcare options without her!
Camren Grace Marie was born at 5:32pm on Tuesday October 12th. She weighed 6lbs 11oz and was 19in long. The whole birth experience was amazing. The nursing staff and doctors were relaxed. I wasn't dying. Jokes were being tossed around the room like a comedy club. As far as major surgery goes...this one was a blast! Here are some of the pictures from our first few days.
