Birthday Cupcakes with Aunt B

Jax' Aunt B came to visit for her birthday. Before B arrived Jax and I made cupcakes to celebrate! He is really getting into the cooking and baking and as you can see has the taste test down to a science! ;-)

Christmas Card attempt

Sadly...our great friend and AMAZING photographer Sarah has decided to hang up her camera professionally for awhile. This meant that we would not be getting our Christmas photo shoot! Optimistically, Justin and I thought that we would be able to capture some photos worth the holiday greeting card...silly, silly us!
Jax laughing at this sister crying...
Camren letting us know exactly what she thinks of our photo shoot!
Santa Jax decided raking leaves is much better than taking pictures.

As long as he eats...

Typical of all toddlers, Jax has developed a definite sense of likes and dislikes and has realized (much to my dismay) that he can voice (loudly) those preferences. And while he exercises this new found voice of his all dang day long, it is during meal times that he shares his opinion loudest. Ok Ok...so this is just a nice way of saying the kid is picky! I understand that bananas, grapes, chicken nuggets and grilled cheese are yummy...but when that's ALL he eats?? Anyhow...during a visit to brand new cousin Wyatt, Jax was introduced to food on a stick (thank you Edible Arrangements). So we, in all our parenting wisdom, have taken the novelty of eating things off of a stick and used it to our advantage! Since offering things skewered Jax has eaten fruit, veggies, fish, chicken and cheese! We do reserve the sticks for special meal times but so far if it comes on a stick Jax is eating it! And if we add a little dip, or deeiiipp as Jax likes to call it, on the side we have one happy eating toddler! ;-)

Camren Grace- I month old!!

Last Friday was the 12th and Camren's 1 month birthday! It's unbelievable that time can fly that fast! Camren continues to be a little peanut, weighing in at 8lbs 12oz at her 1 month appointment. (which was what her cousin Wyatt weighed on the same day but it was his second day of life! ) We are thankful for all of the newborn clothing that we had been given and honestly never thought I'd use! She is becoming more alert everyday but still spends most of her days sleeping. Cam is a true girl and does NOT enjoy any of the bodily functions that crack her brother up. Gas is very distressing to this girly girl and is really her only reason for crying. So it appears that we have been once again very blessed with this new girly addition to our family!

***for those of you who don't know...my old email account has been deleted (thank you ATT for taking care of that too promptly after I canceled your services) and I have lost ALL of my contacts. Who Needs Halloween??

So you may have noticed that I did not post any trick-or-treating pictures again this year. Last year Jax was way to little for the door to door candy begging...this year he should have been at the prime age for the maximum candy haul! The tricky part of trick-or-treating however is the costume. People don't look to kindly on children showing up at their doors NOT in costume and asking for candy. And this little "rule" is why Jax missed out again--no costume was worn. On Halloween day my stubborn little man could not have been less interested in putting on his costume and if I've learned one thing from my son (albeit slowly...) is that forcing him to do anything is rarely worth the effort! So we didn't force it and he didn't dress up!
But (as the title states) who needs Halloween when you have bath time? For the week after Halloween, every night Jax has chosen a different costume to wear. It cracks us up to watch him pick his attire and run to the mirror to check himself out! Maybe next year I'll finally get some trick-or-treating pictures but for now this makes me smile daily!

Cousin Visits

Jax and Cam were lucky enough to get a Cousin Playdate over Halloween weekend. (ok so the boys did all of the playing for now...) My sis-in-law Becca and brother Ben's son Elijah is 2 1/2- 10 mo older than Jax and their daughter Lillian is 2 mo old- 6 weeks older than Camren. The boys (and dads) had a great time running around the house yelling and wrestling while the girlies slept through it all! By the end of the night everyone was ready for bed!! It was so much fun to get all 4 of them together for the first time. It makes me super excited for the holidays and years to come as they grow up together!

Bathing Beauties

Camren's first bath

All done and snuggled up warm!

Camren had her first bath last week after her umbilical cord had fallen off. Daddy had Jax in the bath tub so it was some nice girl time for us. Luckily (and I never thought I would say this...) our bathroom is on the smallish side. This makes heating up the room to ensure a more pleasant bathing experience easy! With a warm room and warm water Camren was a very happy girl. Which was a nice change from her big Bro who hated his bath for the first few months. ;) What can I say?? I guess this princess loves to be pampered!
